Architect: UPEA is seeking a talented professional with 10+ years of experience to join our team and lead innovative design projects. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in architectural design and a passion for creating innovative spaces. This position offers the chance to work on exciting projects and collaborate with a talented team.
Requirements: Licensed Architect; Proficient in Revit and other architectural software; Project management experience; Knowledge in construction cost estimating; Strong team leadership and communication skills.
Senior Civil Engineer: P.E. required. USDA/RD experience in Wisconsin and/or Michigan a plus. Excellent opportunity for advancement.
Civil Engineer Project Manager: License Civil Engineer with 4 plus years’ experience with focus on structural engineering and/or project management is a plus. A quality background in bridge design and/or construction projects is essential. This position will require management of multiple concurrent design and/or construction projects, as well as perform everyday project design duties including bridge design, building design, culvert design, retaining wall design, and river hydraulic analysis. Must be able to perform moderately complex to complex engineering calculations independently or possess the ability to quickly learn.
Civil Engineer/Technician (Construction and Transportation): Duties include construction inspection, materials testing, and construction administration in the spring, summer, and fall, and design work/construction administration in the winter. Construction projects include bridge replacement projects, bridge rehabilitations, roadway reconstruction, road paving, culvert replacements, and commercial buildings, and the duties include completion of Inspector’s Daily Reports, measuring as-built project pay-items, performing in-plant asphalt sample testing, on-grade material tests, concrete testing, and management of the paperwork deliverables required of the Contractor. Design projects include road, bridge, and culvert projects and the duties include plan development, project estimating, and permit applications. This position is available for an Entry-Level Engineer, experienced Engineer, Professional Engineer, or experienced Engineering Technician. UPEA will provide the training required to obtain all required certifications.
Civil Designer: Primarily focused on the design of municipal water and wastewater systems using Civil 3D. The successful candidate will take surveyors’ data and create base maps; create surfaces and edit them; create pipe networks; and water and sewer plans. The candidate must be able to use all the parts of the corridor package to create road plans. A few of those parts are creating alignments, profiles, sections and assemblies. The successful candidate will also be able to do grading and volume calculations. In addition, the successful candidate will have five-plus years of experience and be efficient with Word and Excel. Knowledge of GIS is a benefit.
Structural Engineer: 3-5 years of relevant experience. The individual should possess a strong practical technical knowledge and shall be capable of performing duties independently.
Description: Direct CAD designers in the production of structural construction documents for small to moderately sized projects; Research product selection and materials for use on projects; Layout structural framing systems and detail connections; Develop design criteria and perform structural analysis of new design and existing structures; Collaborate on projects with in-house Engineers/Architects/Designers and Clients; Prepare design calculations for small to medium span bridge replacement projects; Perform load rating analysis of existing structures for repairs/retrofits in a manufacturing and/or commercial building environment; Review and respond to RFI’s, submittals and other construction related documents; Author technical reports and project correspondence.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with 3-5 years relevant experience desirable; Must be knowledgeable and experienced in the application of structural engineering principles in the design of buildings – including building materials, systems and/or bridge design experience; Experience with structural engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit STAAD.PRO, Ram Structural System and/or Risa 3d; Must have a good understanding of construction documents, including both drawings and technical specifications; Willing to adapt to different project types and tasks on a daily basis; Able to perform visual observations and use precision instruments.
Construction Observer/Technician: Seeking a motivated, organized person to fill an opening as a Construction Observer/Technician, with five or more years of experience. The successful candidate will have previous experience with construction oversite of underground utilities, such as water treatment facilities, water main, wastewater treatment facilities, sanitary sewer main and stormwater systems and/or MDOT highway reconstruction oversight experience.
The candidate must have experience with reading and interpreting plans and specifications, communicating and coordinating with contractors on site, preparing daily observation reports, tracking contractor’s daily bid item quantities installed, and working independently on construction site.
Surveyor: 2 plus years of experience, responsible for performing topographic, boundary, hydrographic and construction layout. A four-year degree in Land Surveying and the ability to become a Professional Surveyor in Michigan is required. Must be proficient in GPS Systems, Total Robotic Stations and Data Collectors. Must know and use CAD software. Must understand budgets and deadlines. Strong communication skills are critical. Experience with MDOT/WisDOT projects is a plus.
Administrative Assistant (Iron Mountain Office): Provide administrative support to facilitate efficient operation of the office. The Administrative Assistant will work under the supervision of the Office Manager but will be expected to work independently.
Duties: Answering and directing phone calls, scheduling video conferences, draft correspondence, prepare reports, maintain UPEA filing system, order office supplies. Maintain contact lists, book training and travel arrangements, submit and reconcile expense reports, provide general support to clients and staff.
Qualifications: Knowledge of office management systems and equipment. Proficiency of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Education and Experience: High School degree; additional qualification as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary and/or knowledge of the architectural/engineering field will be a plus.
